Meet the welcoming people behind the eco-friendly concept.
Reinier Baijens and Mirjam Heijder first lived on Bonaire between 2014-2017. Even though they loved the island, they decided to go back to The Netherlands. Once they left the island, they kept thinking about dushi Bonaire. After a few years, they knew their hearts belonged on Bonaire and started planning their return.
As they were planning their second move to Bonaire, they came across another couple, Rob and Diana Schokker, who were also planning to move to Bonaire. A simple question on Facebook about moving and bringing a pet cat to Bonaire led them to start messaging each other and eventually chat on the phone. Soon after, they met in person in The Netherlands when they dropped off their belongings in a shared container.
As both couples moved to Bonaire in the summer of 2021, they became fast friends. It was one of those friendships that feels like you have known the other person forever, yet they have only known each other for about a year!
How Greenbikes Bonaire started.
In The Netherlands, Reinier was a teacher of Sustainable Environment. Thanks to his career, he was always contemplating ways to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle and share his passions with others. His love for the environment led to the idea of an all-electric scooter rental shop on Bonaire. It was the perfect idea as transportation was needed on the island, especially eco-friendly vehicles! Of course, Rob and Diana were also keen on living a more sustainable lifestyle. Just like that, everything fell into place and Greenbikes Bonaire was born.

Choose from three different types of electric scooters.
Each scooter is perfect for traveling around Bonaire. Remember, our island is quite small so you can easily travel around the north to Rincon and the south without a problem. The majority of our speed limits on the island are 40km per hour. Greenbikes Bonaire is always available during the day for a battery swap or service if needed.
The Goccia – The Goccia is a lightweight electric scooter. This scooter gives you the ability to choose two modes depending on your needs. The big wheels ensure a comfortable, fun ride. With a full battery, you can travel around the island at a speed of 45km – 50km (28-31 mph) and a range of 45km – 50km (28-31 miles).
X1 Cruiser – The X1 Cruiser is the perfect scooter for cruising. It’s easy to ride and an ideal match for every age. This cruiser is suitable for two people. The X1 Cruiser can travel at a speed of 25km – 35km (16-22 mph) and has a range of 40km (25 miles).
Café Cruiser – This scooter looks like a real motorcycle without a loud sound. With the Café Cruiser, you can cruise around the island at a speed of 45km-60km (28-37 mph) for a range of 80 km (50 miles). It also gives you the ability to choose from three different modes; eco, normal, and power mode.
