Flamingos of Bonaire fundraiser to support Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab.
Elly Albers, the owner/operator of the Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab and the Mangrove Info Center, has joined forces with Lorenzo Mittiga, a professional photographer, to create a Flamingos of Bonaire fundraiser. The fundraiser aims to raise money for the non-profit Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab.
Elly and Lorenzo have chosen a selection of Lorenzo’s fine art photos that capture the beauty of Bonaire’s flamingos. The high-quality images, printed in different sizes, will be displayed at the Mangrove Info Center during the fundraiser. While perusing through the stunning photographs, you can shop for your friends and family for Christmas. Who wouldn’t want a beautiful picture of a Bonaire flamingo to hang on their wall? But don’t forget to treat yourself as well. Of course, food and drinks will also be available for purchase. You may even see some flamingos along the road to the Mangrove Info Center.
About Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab.
In 2017, Elly started to learn how to care for birds when an oil spill reached Bonaire’s coast. Over the years, she has worked tirelessly to help the many birds and flamingos on Bonaire.
In 2018, Elly created the non-profit Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab, which allowed her to accept donations. Since then, she has cared for many sick or injured birds around the clock. She helps the island’s resident birds and those needing care after or during long migrations. The migrations can be very long, sometimes up to 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers)!
