Bachelor’s Beach renovation plan has been adjusted.
The public body Bonaire (OLB) decided last year that there will no longer be a beach and sunbeds at Bachelor’s Beach (Playa Fòrn’i Kalki). The renovation plan has been adjusted on various points so that it is more in line with the wishes of the people of Bonaire. This means that the image now shown on the billboard at Bachelor’s Beach is inaccurate.
A revision of the development plan results from feedback from the people of Bonaire and a petition handed over. At the first presentation of the renovated Bachelor’s Beach in 2021, there was already a lot of feedback to do the project differently. As a result, Deputy Thielman started a conversation with people to listen to their concerns and look for solutions together. Then, OLB returned to the drawing board to make adjustments regarding the renovation plan of Bachelor’s Beach. For example, last year, OLB decided that there will be no more beach and sunbeds and the existing staircase will be completely renovated, so everyone can safely enter the water.
Furthermore, more (paved) parking spaces will be created, with one kiosk instead of three. The kiosk allows a local entrepreneur to start a business in a beautiful location and gain income. The construction of a public toilet remains.
Bachelor’s Beach renovation plan is to improve the facilities so families can enjoy this place more while preserving the current natural atmosphere. With the revised plans, the OLB strives for a place where both residents and visitors of Bonaire can use the facilities that the beach offers.
