Bonaire’s new travel requirements will make many travelers happy.

In the next few days, travelers to Bonaire will need to take fewer steps in order to reach dushi Bonaire.

Below is a transcript of the latest press release.

As of March 20, 2022, the islands of Saba, Sint Eustatius, Curaçao, Aruba, and St. Maarten will be considered safe islands for Bonaire. Vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers from the islands no longer need to take a PCR test or antigen test to enter Bonaire. All travelers are still required to fill out a health declaration.

From March 20, 2022, the travel conditions from all countries except the Netherlands will be relaxed. Fully vaccinated travelers who received the second vaccination or the booster shot less than 270 days ago do not need to take a PCR or antigen test before their trip to Bonaire. Vaccinated and Unvaccinated travelers are still required to complete the health declaration form to get to the island.

Travelers who are not fully vaccinated and fully vaccinated who received the last shot more than 270 days ago must take an antigen test within 24 hours before departure. They can also choose to have a PCR test 48 hours before departure.

The new travel conditions will also apply to travelers from the Netherlands from March 23, 2022. Minister Kuipers of Health, Welfare and Sport must first submit the new travel conditions to the House of Representatives. The minister can decide independently about the travel conditions for countries that do not belong to Dutch territory.

Bonaire is part of the Dutch territory. That is why the relaxation of the travel conditions for travelers from the Netherlands will come into effect after the House of Representatives has been able to respond.

Proof of Recovery

From March 23, 2022, travelers from the Netherlands who have had COVID-19 can travel to Bonaire with proof of recovery and the vaccination certificate or test certificate. The recovery certificate is official proof from a testing laboratory that someone had a positive PCR test result. The positive PCR test result must not be less than 11 days old and not more than 180 days old.
