Does it feel hotter than normal lately? Well, it is!
Over the past few days, it has been extremely hot outside with moderate wind. Unfortunately, this weekend is expected to become even warmer. Over the next few days, the winds will calm down, increasing the humidity and thus increasing the temperature that could even feel like 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius)!
It is not uncommon to see this during the summer around the rainy season, but it is less likely to see it during this time of the year when the trade winds are usually the strongest. Temperatures over the weekend could reach 93 -97 degrees Fahrenheit (34 – 36 degrees Celsius).
What can you do to stay cool?
It is extremely important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. If you are out and about during the middle of the day, be sure to carry water and seek some shaded areas.
If you plan to exercise outside, make sure you do so early in the morning. The coolest time to exercise outdoors will be around sunrise or sunset. Of course, another option to stay cool is to jump into the cool Caribbean Sea or a pool. However, my pool is feeling like a warm bath lately! Whatever you decided to do, plan accordingly.
