55th Annual Bonaire Regatta Sailing Event

The 55th Bonaire Regatta Sailing competitions begin tomorrow.

Over the years, Bonaire has hosted the International Sailing Regatta annual event in October to celebrate its sailing traditions. Sailors from all over come to the island to race in various events and participate in different categories.

The sailing races provide spectators with a pleasant atmosphere and the perfect opportunity to take a few photographs while enjoying the views.

Regatta Schedule

On Saturday, October 1st, the competition begins at Sorobon with an initial Captain’s briefing followed by racing, windsurfing, and sailing competitions between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. On Sunday, October 2nd, the event continues at Sorobon with more windsurfing and sailing from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

On Thursday, October 6th through Friday, October 7th, the competition will be at Kas di Regatta on Kralendijk’s boulevard for racing, sailing, foil and microboat competitions between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Regatta’s final day is Saturday, October 8th, including racing, sailing, foil and microboat competitions from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, followed by an awards ceremony.

If you are on Bonaire during this time, take a break and enjoy the races with family and friends.

Keeping Bonaire safe during Regatta

In order to keep Bonaire safe during this time, Customs, the Koninklijke Marechaussee (KMar), the Coast Guard, the Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN), and the Public Entity Bonaire (OLB) will monitor and check compliance with all laws and regulations that apply and are relevant to each partner. In addition, there will be various services for any emergency aid. Supervision and controls occur in the waters between Curaçao and Bonaire, around Bonaire, and in the Kralendijk area.
