As the numbers continue to fall, Bonaire eases restrictions even further.

Over the past few weeks, Bonaire has seen a continuous drop in daily COVID-19 infections and hospital admissions. Today through March 4, 2022, additional measures have been relaxed.

Below is a transcript of the latest press release.

Bonaire is relaxing the measures even more, and a large part of the old measures are no longer valid. The new measures apply from February 18, 2022, to March 4, 2022. The basic measures and the mask obligation for indoor spaces will continue to apply during this time.

Catering establishments may close at 2:00 AM from February 18, 2022. Events are allowed with 100 people, and it is allowed to sing and dance outside. You can sing and dance outside, but not inside. A maximum of 100 people is allowed at weddings, funerals, and private gatherings.

A number of measures have been canceled altogether. For example, people are allowed to exercise indoors and outdoors again without restrictions. It is also possible to attend masses and services in churches and sing at the same time. The advice to work from home as much as possible is no longer in effect. Saunas no longer have to use 50% of the maximum capacity, and casinos are allowed to close at 02:00.

Bonaire already relaxed the measures after the number of active COVID-19 cases fell and the pressure on healthcare eased. Now that the decline continues and the pressure on healthcare is low, the measures can be relaxed even more. But it does not mean that COVID has disappeared from the scene or that we no longer have to take COVID into account.

It is important that everyone is aware of their behavior and takes responsibility. Everyone should be extra careful and take into account people with vulnerable health. Take a self-test before visiting people in fragile health. Stay home if you have complaints and make an appointment for a PCR test or take a self-test. Have you not received the booster shot yet? In February, you can get the booster shot every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM without an appointment at Kompleho Deportivo Jorge Nicolaas.
