About the Author
Anne Bennett’s life has always been entwined with the sea. Drawn to water from her earliest memories, she found solace and adventure beneath the waves. Her mother had dreamed of being a journalist but, in her day, the world offered only two choices: teacher or nurse, and she taught second grade for years. Inspired by her mother’s quiet longing, Anne discovered her own love of storytelling in college writing courses.
But life was not without struggle. When family challenges arose, writing became her sanctuary – a place to process, escape, and reclaim herself. Her first novel, On Bonaire, was nearly the end of her journey as a writer. Doubts loomed, fear whispered she should quit. She hit “publish” and walked away, unsure if she’d ever return. Yet the stories called her back, proving stronger than hesitation, and she persisted.
Bonaire became both her muse and her refuge. Multiple visits to the island, culminating in her wedding there in 2025, gave Anne an intimate knowledge of its turquoise waters, coral reefs, and vibrant communities. Her adventures extend far beyond Bonaire – she has scuba dived in the Galápagos, Costa Rica, the Socorro Islands, and throughout the Caribbean. These experiences lend authenticity and depth to the underwater worlds she creates.
