If you are visiting the island during a legal holiday, please be aware that grocery stores may be closed or have adjusted hours. Gas stations may also be closed on legal holidays. Credit cards are not accepted at gas stations so make sure you plan accordingly.

  • May 1, 2025 – Labor Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.​ Some supermarkets will have reduced hours.
  • May 2, 2025 – Day off for civil servants. This is a legal holiday that was recently announced. Some businesses and government offices are closed.​
  • May 4, 2025 – 22nd Edition Walk-A-Thon. Walk from White Slave Huts to Rincon while supporting the Special Olympics of Bonaire. Find out more details in our latest article.
  • May 4, 2025 – International Firefighters Day
  • May 10, 2025 – Global Big Day. This is a 24-hour event where people worldwide who love birds go out and count species.
  • May 11, 2025 – Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup. Bring sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a friend or two! Location: Piedra Pretu from 4 PM – 6 PM. Find out more info on their website.
  • May 16-17, 2025 – Bon Doet. This event is a 2-day volunteer campaign carried out at foundations and associations around the island. Stay tuned for more details.
  • May 29, 2025 – Ascension Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • May 29 – June 12, 2025 – Bonaire Culinair Spring Edition. This spring edition offers you a wealth of excellent options to explore. As more restaurants sign up to participate, be sure to make your reservations in advance!

June 2025

  • May 29 – June 12, 2025 – Bonaire Culinair Spring Edition. This spring edition offers you a wealth of excellent options to explore. As more restaurants sign up to participate, be sure to make your reservations in advance!

  • June 1, 2025 – ReeFiesta 2025 in Celebration of World Reef Awareness Day. All divers and snorkelers of any level are welcome and signup is free. Make sure you register in advance.
  • June 8, 2025 – World Oceans Day
  • June 8, 2025 – Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup. Bring sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a friend or two! Location: Te Amo Beach from 8 AM – 10 AM.  Find out more info on their website.
  • 2nd week of June 2025 – 3rd Annual Pride Bonaire. Typically scheduled for the 2nd week of June. More details to follow.
  • June 21, 2025 – International Yoga Day & Summer Solstice
  • June 28, 2025 – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music, arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 3 PM.

July 2025

August 2025

  • September 20, 2025 – World Cleanup Day. World Cleanup Day unites millions of volunteers across the globe to take action against waste pollution and create a cleaner, healthier planet. If you are on Bonaire, join in and help the island by picking up litter.
  • September 21, 2025 – International Coastal Cleanup Day. International Coastal Cleanup Day focuses on bringing volunteers together to remove trash from beaches, helping to protect marine life and preserve our oceans for future generations.
  • September 27, 2025 – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music, arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 3 PM.

October 2025

  • Beginning of October 2025- 58th Edition Bonaire International Regatta. Dates are TBD
  • Beginning of October 2025 – Jong Bonaire “Swim to Klein.” 23rd Edition. Typically the first weekend in October. Date is TBD

  • Mid-November 2025 – Sanikolas, Sinterklaas, Old St. Nick. Arrival at Wilhelmina Park by boat. Date is TBD.
  • November 29, 2025 – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music, arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 3 PM.

December 2025

  • December 15, 2025 – Kingdom Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • Mid December 2025 – Christmas Shopping Night – Typically about 5 days before Christmas. Date is TBD
  • December 25, 2025 – Christmas Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices, including Washington Slagbaai National Park and supermarkets, are closed.
  • December 26, 2025 – Boxing Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices are closed.
  • December 27, 2025 – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music, arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 3 PM.
  • December 31, 2025 – New Year’s Eve Fireworks over Bonaire

January 2026

  • January 1, 2026 – New Year’s Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices are closed, including the Washington Slagbaai National Park and the supermarkets.
  • January 2026 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • January 2026 (date is TBD) – Annual Lora (Parrot) Roost Count. Echo Foundation relies heavily on volunteers to assist with the annual parrot count.
  • End of January 2026 (date is TBD) – Ride for Roses. Ride, Walk, or Swim to support the fight against cancer. Walking is 7km or 9km. Cycling is either 13km or 20km. Swim is 700m.
  • Last Saturday of the Month – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music, arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 3 PM.

February 2026

  • February 2, 2026 – World Wetland Day. World Wetlands Day occurs annually on February 2nd, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971. Wetlands are important wildlife areas that may include several different ecosystems, such as mangrove forests, seagrass beds, saliñas, and coral reefs nurseries.

 

  • Carnival (Karnaval) 2026 Schedule – Beginning February 2026 through February 17, 2026

    This year is the 51st anniversary of Carnival (Karnaval) on Bonaire! It should take place beginning to mid-February 2026.Carnival has always ended the night prior to the beginning of Lent, so the Adult Grand Parades are expected to be mid February. Dates are currently all TBD based on knowledge of previous years and the beginning of Lent.

    • Beginning February – 1 or 2 Tumba Festivals (Dates are TBD). Learn more about Tumba. 
    • February 7, 2026 (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Children’s Parade in Rincon. Parade typically begins at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • February 8, 2026 (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent)  – Children’s Parade in KralendijkParade typically begins at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • February 14, 2026 (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) Adult Grand Parade in Rincon. Parade typically begins at 2 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • February 15, 2026 (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Adult Grand Parade in Kralendijk. Parade typically begins at 1 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years). It typically begins at Van Den Tweel, passing by the stadium as it rounds the corner near Kaya Grandi, up to the church and back to Van Den Tweel).
    • February 16, 2026 (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous year and beginning of Lent) – Children’s/ Teen / Elder Farewell Parade (Start time is TBD)
    • February 17, 2026 (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Adult Farewell Grand Parade in Kralendijk at night with the Burning of King Momo at Midnight (the night before Lent). Parade typically begins at 8 PM and ends at 12 AM (estimated times based on prior years)

April 2026

  • April 2026 – Multiple Local events. Leading up to Dia Di Rincon at the end of the month, there are multiple events that take place. The schedule is always in Papiamentu only.
  • April 2026 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • April 3, 2026 – Good Friday. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed, including the larger supermarkets. However, the Washington Slagbaai National Park is typically open on this day.
  • April 5, 2026 – Easter Sunday.  This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed, including the larger supermarkets. However, the Washington Slagbaai National Park is typically open on this day.
  • April 6, 2026– Easter Monday. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed. Supermarkets typically have reduced hours.
  • April 22, 2026 – Earth Day. Celebrate Earth Day on the same day yearly.
  • April 27, 2026 – Kings Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • Last Saturday of the Month – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music, arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM – 3 PM.
  • April 30, 2026 –Dia di Rincon / Rincon Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed. The Washington Slagbaai National Park is also closed on this day. Supermarkets will have reduced hours.There are multiple events throughout the day, but the main parade begins in the afternoon. Be careful of the road closures and make sure to park outside of the road closures in Rincon.

May 2026
