Calendar of Events on Bonaire

If you are visiting the island during a legal holiday, please be aware that grocery stores may be closed or have adjusted hours. Gas stations may also be closed on legal holidays. Credit cards are not accepted at gas stations so make sure you plan accordingly.

  • December 6, 2024 (TBD) – Bonaire by Night Shopping Event. Don’t miss ‘Bonaire by Night’ from 6 PM to 9 PM in the downtown area of Kralendijk. During the event, you can enjoy live music and entertainment, and shop at booths and stores that are normally closed at night.
  • December 8, 2024 – Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup. Location: Te Amo Beach from 8 AM- 10 AM. Find out more info on their website.
  • December 15, 2024 – Bottomless Mimosa Christmas Edition at Blue Lagun Cafe! This is the Christmas Brunch you don’t want to miss with your friends & family! Unlimited mimosas in the flavor orange or strawberry complimented with 4 treats from Sweeti Bakery Bonaire! There will also be a special brunch menu with dishes like chocolate waffles, crispy sushi and avocado sourdough. Sing along with the best Christmas hits while enjoying Christmas Brunch. Time: 11 AM – 3:30 PM. Make your reservation in advance!
  • December 15, 2024 – Kingdom Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • Mid December 2024 – Christmas Shopping Night – Date is TBD
  • December 25, 2024 – Christmas Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices, including Washington Slagbaai National Park and supermarkets, are closed.
  • December 26, 2024 – Boxing Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices are closed.
  • December 28, 2024 – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music and arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every Month from 10 AM – 3 PM.
  • December 31, 2024 – New Year’s Eve Fireworks over Bonaire

January 2025

  • January 1, 2025 – New Year’s Day. This is a legal holiday. Most businesses and government offices are closed, including the Washington Slagbaai National Park and the supermarkets.
  • January 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • January 2025 (date is TBD) – Annual Lora (Parrot) Roost Count. Echo Foundation relies heavily on volunteers to assist with the annual parrot count..
  • End of January 2025 – Nos Zjilea Cultural Event at Mangazina di Rei. Experience local cuisine, music and arts & crafts and learn about Bonaire’s culture on the last Saturday of every Month from 10 AM – 3 PM.

February 2025

  • February 2, 2025 – Ride for Roses. Ride, Walk, or Swim to support the fight against cancer. Walk, Cycle, Swim or Run. Sign up for one or a combination of events! Find out more details here to register.
  • February 2, 2025 – World Wetland Day. World Wetlands Day occurs annually on February 2nd, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971. Wetlands are important wildlife areas that may include several different ecosystems, such as mangrove forests, seagrass beds, saliñas, and coral reefs nurseries.
  • February 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup. Find out more info on their website.

 

Carnival (Karnaval) 2025 Schedule – Mid Feb 2025 (TBD) through March 4, 2025

This year is the 50th anniversary of Carnival (Karnaval) on Bonaire! It should take place mid-February through beginning of March 2025.Carnival has always ended the night prior to the beginning of Lent so the Adult Grand Parades are expected to be the 1st weekend of March. Dates are currently all TBD based on knowledge of previous years and the beginning of Lent.

    • Mid February – 1 or 2 Tumba Festivals (Dates are TBD). Learn more about Tumba. 
    • February 22nd  (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent)– Children’s Parade in Rincon. Parade typically begins at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • February 23rd (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent)  – Children’s Parade in KralendijkParade typically begins at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • March 1st (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) Adult Grand Parade in Rincon. Parade typically begins at 2 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years).
    • March 2nd (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Adult Grand Parade in Kralendijk. Parade begins at 1 PM and ends at 6 PM (estimated times based on prior years). It typically begins at Van Den Tweel, passing by the stadium as it rounds the corner near Kaya Grandi, up to the church and back to Van Den Tweel).
    • March 3rd (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous year and beginning of Lent) – Children’s/ Teen / Elder Farewell Parade (Start time is TBD)
    • March 4th (Date is TBD / estimate based on previous years and beginning of Lent) – Adult Farewell Grand Parade in Kralendijk at night with the Burning of King Momo at Midnight (the night before Lent). Parade begins at 8 PM and ends at 12 AM (estimated times based on prior years).

March 2025

  • March 3, 2025 – World Wildlife Day
  • Beginning of March (Date is TBD) – 22nd Edition Walk-A-Thon. Walk from White Slave Huts to Rincon while supporting the Special Olympics of Bonaire.
  • March 8, 2025 – International Women’s Day
  • March 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • Mid March – 14th edition of BON DOET, the largest volunteer event on Bonaire. More info to follow. Date is TBD
  • March 21, 2025 – International Forests Day
  • March 22, 2025 – World Water Day
  • March 26th – 29th, 2025 – Caribbean Open Blokart Championships 2025. This event is hosted by Boanire Landsailing Adventures. More.info to follow.

April 2025

  • April 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • April 18, 2025 – Good Friday. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed, including the larger supermarkets. However, the Washington Slagbaai National Park is typically open on this day.
  • April 20, 2025 – Easter Sunday.  This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed, including the larger supermarkets. However, the Washington Slagbaai National Park is typically open on this day.
  • April 21, 2025 – Easter Monday. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed. Supermarkets typically have reduced hours.
  • April 22, 2025 – Earth Day
  • April 27, 2025 – Kings Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • April 30, 2025 – Dia di Rincon / Rincon Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.

May 2025

  • May 1, 2025 – Labor Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.​
  • May 4, 2025 – International Firefighters Day
  • May 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • Mid May, 2025 – Global Big Day. This is a 24-hour event where people worldwide who love birds go out and count species.
  • Mid May, 2025 – Bonaire Culinair Spring Edition. ( Dates are TBD).
  • May 29, 2025 – Ascension Day. This is a legal holiday. Some businesses and most government offices are closed.
  • May 31, 2025 – World Parrot Day

June 2025

  • June 1, 2025 – World Reef Awareness Day
  • June 8, 2025 – World Oceans Day
  • June 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • 2nd week of June 2025 – 3rd Annual Pride Bonaire. Currently scheduled for the 2nd week of June. More details to follow.
  • June 21, 2025 – International Yoga Day & Summer Solstice

July 2025

  • July 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • Mid July 2025 – PADI Women’s Dive Day
  • July 26, 2025 – International Day for the Conservation of the Mangroves

August 2025

  • August 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.

September 2025

  • Mid September, 2025 – Bonaire Culinair Fall Edition. ( Dates are TBD).
  • September 20, 2025 – World Cleanup Day. World Cleanup Day unites millions of volunteers across the globe to take action against waste pollution and create a cleaner, healthier planet. If you are on Bonaire, join in and help the island by picking up litter.
  • September 21, 2025 – International Coastal Cleanup Day. International Coastal Cleanup Day focuses on bringing volunteers together to remove trash from beaches, helping to protect marine life and preserve our oceans for future generations.

October 2025

  • Beginning of October 2025- 58th Edition Bonaire International Regatta. Dates are TBD
  • Beginning of October 2025 – Jong Bonaire “Swim to Klein.” 23rd Edition. Typically the first weekend in October. Date is TBD
  • October 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • Mid October 2025 – Global Big Day. This is a 24-hour event where people worldwide who love birds go out and count species.

November 2025

  • November 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
  • Mid-November 2025 – Sanikolas, Sinterklaas, Old St. Nick. Arrival at Wilhelmina Park by boat. Date is TBD

December 2025

  • December 2025 (date is TBD)- Clean Coast Bonaire. Volunteer for the monthly beach cleanup.
