Salú! The Caribbean’s first gin.
One of Bonaire’s favorite tasting spots, the Cadushy Distillery, has just launched the Caribbean’s first gin, called “Salú!” This popular Papiamentu toast literally means “cheers,” or “to your health.”
Salú! Gin was four years in the making.
It took four years of testing, before Master Distiller, Eric Gietman, got it just right. This new spirit is made from 13 botanicals, including the Kadushi cactus, Aloe Vera, and Yerba di Holé (local basil) and, as with all gin, juniper. The end result is a bold gin with a soft edge. Eric is quite pleased with the positive reactions to his gin. He said, “I searched for healthy ingredients, therefore the name Salú!”
Salú! goes to Miami for the Taste of the Caribbean.
The Bonaire Culinary Team will take Salú! Gin to Miami, where it will be presented in the cocktails competition of Taste of the Caribbean. The Cadushy Distillery has been a sponsor of this culinary event for many years.
Taste-test Salú! for yourself.
On your next visit to Bonaire, stop by either of Cadushy’s locations–its headquarters in Rincon, or its store on Kaya Grandi in Kralendijk, and you can taste-test this new spirit for yourself. The Rincon location is open each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM. The store on Kaya Grandi in Kralendijk is open each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM.
Salú! Gin joins Cadushy’s other spirits, including Rum Rincon, Cadushy Vodka, Captain Don’s Whiskey, and Kaomati Tequila and the liqueurs representing the six Dutch islands in the Caribbean!
