Enjoy the benefits of Yoga on Bonaire.
We all strive to live a healthy lifestyle. Just because you are on vacation, doesn’t mean you must give up your workouts. In fact, participating in a Yoga session while on vacation may help you to truly relax and melt the stress of your busy day-to-day life away.
While various types of Yoga are available on Bonaire at different times of the day, sometimes a private session is just what you need. There is no one else to focus on but yourself and the Instructor. If you have ailments like me, booking private Yoga sessions is very beneficial.
Booking a Private Yoga Session
Recently, I booked a private Yoga session with Gwen from Zest for Life Yoga. During the booking process, we discussed a few things such as a time and place for the private session. I am most comfortable using my home for the location, but others can easily choose their accommodation, one of the Yoga studios, or an area with a view.
After a location was agreed upon, we discussed any medical issues that may hinder movement. Since I am hypermobile and a beginner, Gwen suggested Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga is a gentle form of Yoga with a meditative experience. It focuses on posture, breathing techniques, and is beneficial for back pain, neck pain, stress management, anxiety, and various other issues. And let’s be real, we ALL have stress that needs to go away.
Monday morning at 8 AM seemed like the perfect way to enter a busy work week. Since it was a beautiful morning on Bonaire, we set up the mats and blocks in my outdoor area and began our Hatha Yoga session with sun salutations. As we moved through the poses, Gwen also shared variations for certain poses and guided me to choose the one best suited for my level. Everyone is different and having variations is really helpful.
Ending the session.
At the end of the session, we laid down, closed our eyes, and let all our worries wash away for 10 minutes. We listened to the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees and the beautiful chirping of the Bonaire birds. Throughout the last 10 minutes, Gwen spoke very softly on and off as we ended the class with deep relaxation. Ending the class with deep relaxation is a unique way Gwen ends her classes. I can see why many on the island appreciate her classes!
