Enjoy a fun-filled Open Day 2023!
Washington Slagbaai National Park is hosting an Open Day this Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 9 AM – 6 PM. Entry is free for everyone on this day, and there will be plenty of entertainment!
Washington Slagbaai National Park is known for its majestic views, changing scenery, hiking trails, beautiful snorkeling spots (currently diving is not allowed), beautiful birds, and rolling hills of cacti.
What to expect this Sunday.
The Open Day will have live music playing throughout the day, exciting games for kids, delicious food, local arts and crafts, informative talks, and a full bar! And of course, FREE entry! This will be a wonderful way to spend your Sunday on Bonaire. Bring your friends and family for a fun day in the heart of nature. All activities will be at the entrance of the park.
After you have your fill of fun, head into the park and choose either the long route or the short route for exploring the park. The short route tends to be more inside the park, while the long route provides you with scenic views of the ocean, the blow hole, lookout points, and more. My personal favorite is the long route. Take your time and enjoy all aspects along the route while you connect with nature.
Whatever route you choose, both routes come together at a certain point. One of the last stops on both routes is Boka Slagbaai. Take time to enjoy this area. It is beautiful and relaxing, with the beach on one side and an area where flamingos like to hang out on the other side. If you are a daredevil, climb the hill and go cliff jumping! Of course, this is at your own risk just like the sign says before you head up the hill.
Please keep in mind that if you want to enjoy the park routes, you must enter before 12:30 PM. Typically, you can enter a tad later, but on Open Day, you must enter before 12:30 PM to enjoy the long or short route. If you can’t make it to the park on Sunday, no worries! Your nature fee will let you into the Washington Slagbaai National Park on another day.
Enjoy Open Day 2023!
